On April 2, 2019, Dr Aaron TONG, Managing Director and Chief Advisor of Quality Management Consulting Co., Ltd., led experts, scholars and friends from various fields to visit the Hong Kong West Kowloon High-speed Railway which was officially put into operation on September 23, 2018. Station (West Kowloon Station).
West Kowloon Station is a jewel in Hong Kong’s crown and one of the largest underground railway stations in the world. It is a new milestone for the Hong Kong Railway, and its operational use marks Hong Kong’s formal entry into the era of high-speed rail (reaching 44 stations in Mainland China). West Kowloon Station not only allows residents of the mainland and Hong Kong to pass directly between the two places but also assumes the immigration and customs functions between the mainland of China and Hong Kong, which is extremely convenient. Just like an international airport, it will play an important role in the future economic, social and cultural development of the Mainland and Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is dominated by the service industry. The operation of West Kowloon Station will undoubtedly bring convenient and quick exchanges to this precious place, which will be more conducive to the development of Hong Kong’s economy. In addition to tourism-related industries, it will also provide financial services and real estate, Trade and logistics industries, etc., which have brought strong impetus.
Through the visit, we found that West Kowloon Station has a strong urban public element and is a new landmark with a sense of belonging. The interior of the hall is like a forest, with inclined steel columns supporting a huge roof that seems to be suspended in the air. The pure white canopy makes people feel like being in a snowy forest.
The roof of the station is available for climbing. The staff led us to the roof of the station, surrounded by lush trees and shrubs, looking at the skyline of Hong Kong Central and the top of Victoria Peak, enjoying a brand new view here, and establishing a new connection with the city.
Under the guidance of the staff, we also visited the customer centre to understand the considerate customer service and experienced the charm and cultural integration of Changlin, which integrates gourmet food and shopping. In addition, the model exhibition hall made everyone realize that this underground railway station, which will become the world’s busiest underground railway station, combines various forces.
The openness and people-oriented tolerance of West Kowloon Station are shining everywhere in the bright and exciting future of the city of Hong Kong.
Let us look forward to the next departure!
